Easter holidays at home in Abu Dhabi

It’s school holidays at the moment so for two entire weeks I have the privilege of having all three of my little angels at home. Fortunately, the swimming pool looms large in our life and the
children are all becoming quite competent in the water. Steph took off her armbands today, and despite experiencing a gravitational pull towards the bottom of the pool, decided to leave them off for the time being. Hopefully this means that she will soon learn to swim and I can start concentrating on my tan while sitting at the poolside. Tennis is another favoured sport and our tennis court here is largely under utilised by the complex residents. It is rare that we are unable to get the court when on the spur of the moment we decide to go and abuse some tennis balls. I live in hope that at some stage in the future we will be playing a full game of tennis together but at the moment I spend a lot of time lobbing the balls to the kids and they spend a lot of time running around the court picking them up! Our quiet complex streets are perfect for small people to ride their bikes and scooters around. Frequent speed humps (vicious ones that motorists have to observe carefully) ensure that the kids are safe from speeding motorists. The motorists however, may not be safe from kids blocking roads while playing, or having fun with water pistols.
In our park-like garden we have planted a 6ft trampoline, it stretches from our outer garden wall to our house wall, taking up about a third of the garden. However, we don’t regret the loss of the 6ft - it was hardly enough for the kids to play cricket (besides, they have the street for that), but has been a lifesaver for me. The kids use it as a club house, a wendy house, a fort, a sand pit! and even as a means of exercise at times.
