After viewing “suitable” kittens (which turned out not to be suitable) in Abu Dhabi, we ended up doing a 300km round trip to find our kittens! I kid you not. We drove all the way to Dubai to look at them. There were 2 little girls, a tabby and a black and white, about 6 weeks old. Very sweet, both of them. After much deliberation, we chose the tabby, packed her in her travel cage and left. After about 2 minutes, David dissolved into tears - he was SO SAD for the little kitten who had been left behind all lonely without her sister, and for our kitten who was going to miss her sister... We are such suckers. We turned around and shoved the second kitten into the travel cage, and made the long trip home. So we are now the proud owners of Tabitha and Twitchett (from Mrs Tabitha Twitchett, Beatrix Potter, in case you were wondering!). I was in favour of calling them Thing 1 and Thing 2 (Cat in the Hat) as I have serious suspicions that their effect on our neat house will be about as catastrophic (sorry!) - but I was outvoted.
