I had a wonderful experience this morning. It may not sound like much to everyone living in a normal place - but I managed to get a PO Box! In the space of 10 minutes! Usually achieving ANYTHING here requires reams of paperwork, several trips, immense frustration and then, possibly, success.
I took my paperwork requesting a PO Box into the main Post Office (OK, it took an hour to get there), and expected to be sent away as I had filled it in in my name (not Darrell's) and I have no employer details. Also, I not only did not have a letter from Darrell giving me permission to have a PO Box of my own, I didn't even have his signature on the form! Bucking the system!!
The lady in black behind the counter took my paperwork (passports, photo's etc) away, and came back in 5 minutes with a key and a PO Box number for me. I guess my face said it all, cos she just started laughing at me.
Anyway, happy day, lovely when something works.
Now I just have to find the PO Box, the directions were: "somewhere near the airport, not too far from Raha....".
