I went horse riding on Tuesday for the first time since arriving in this country. A friend rides at the stables of HH Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, and she invited me to join her. They only accept people who can ride - no beginners or children allowed. I had to have an assessment to see if my riding standard was up to scratch!
Anyway, the ride was supposed to be 45 minutes, it lasted an hour and a half. I am not complaining about that - it was lovely to be back in the saddle again - but I am twice as sore as I expected to be!
It was very good for me, my riding style has got really casual over the last few years, and suddenly it was demanded that I ride properly and get a good frame from my horse while doing various demanding things in the dressage arena. So fun, fun, fun, but boy am I paying for it now!
Am definitely going again next week....
