Living it up in Dublin

Hmm, what cultural experiences did we have in Dublin? Well, we went to Trinity (tick) and to St Stephen's Green (tick) and to Temple Bar (tick), the General Post Office (tick), Grafton Street (tick). Not sure that driving pass the Guinness place or museums and libraries counts as a tick though.

Be that as it may, our main focus for the weekend was checking out wedding dress styles and colours for Sally. Lots of fun for us, lots of irritated sales women left behind...

Saturday night we did manage to get out for dinner, went for drinks first and then to a Boxty Restaurant where they tried to bury us at the back of a dungeon. We wouldn't take that, and got moved to the front of the dungeon, much better!

On our way back to the apartment at about midnight, Sally and I wanted to go clubbing, but Pam and Jackie (the old people!) wanted to head home. As we passed a lively pub on our way and it was playing our kind of music (the very old kind) we went in and lowered the average age by about 20 years. Sure made us feel good - very young and attractive! Danced until we tired of the attention we were attracting and eventually felt that 2am was definitely bedtime, even for party animals like us!

Sunday morning we had planned to get moving quickly to use the last of our 24hr hop-on hop-off ticket, but we're not so good at the swift thing in the morning. Perfection takes time!
Fortunately, the bus driver didn't look too closely at our tickets and let us on.

We had a very busy day with the dresses and then went for an early dinner (pizza!) at about 6, where we had the hair of the dog as well. Back to our apartment and, as is becoming tradition on our last night, we watched a trashy chic flic. We got the DVD at the local charity shop and think that we ended up donating it back to them.

Monday morning I was up early, washed and catching the bus back to the airport where once more, I enjoyed my back massage in my seat (did I mention business class?).

It was lovely to see my family that night, and flattering to see how relieved they all were that I was back and things could return to normal.....
