It also had a good kiddies club, although quite honestly, we didn't get to use it too much as there was so much for us to do with the kids (including lying by the pool while they swam happily for hours...).

On our first evening there,
we were distracted from our (very 5 star) meal in the (very 5 star) restaurant by loud music. We abandoned our table, kids shooting ahead and adults following more slowly to find two large dancing dragons/lions. They were fantastic to watch, incredible how two people wearing an outfit can become such a life-like animal.

The next day belonged to a very important 5 year old, who got to choose all our activities. She was very spoilt with presents as they had been sent across from SA and the UK, not just from those family members present. The breakfast table by the pool had been decorated with balloons in her honour, and we were served a delicious birthday cake at the restuarant on the beach (layered with chocolate mousse, it was the best cake I've ever had). In the evening we had a meal at the Italian restaurant near Kirsten and Carl's room which was a bit of a bomb - the adult's meals took so long to arrive that we were ready to leave by the time they eventually did. (But not to fear - Darrell complained about the service and got us a splendid free meal for our last night at Sugar Beach...)
The rest of our time there has just blurred into swimming, relaxing, snorkelling, pedalloing (is there such a word?)... This is what happens when you wait so long before writing it all up!

Oh yes, Megan and I had our ride along the beach eventually, and the boys went off deep sea fishing with some spectacular results (they saw nothing and caught nothing - Carl was VERY grumpy and Darrell remembered why he doesn't like fishing!)

Our time at Sugar Beach went far too quickly and in no time at all we were packing up to return to AD. The trip back was a bit tough at times (we started travelling at 7pm and arrived home 14 hours later - only 8 hours was spent flying) but we survived and spent Sunday catching up our sleep (except for Darrell who went directly off to put in a full days' work, poor man).
