Ow!

We have had two changes in our lives that have resulted in my doing my daily run around the compound instead of in the safety of the gym.

Firstly, Steph has conquered her bike and no longer needs stabilisers or a stabilising hand but has an intense desire to ride for long periods of time.

Secondly, the temperatures have dropped to below 40 deg.

So for the past week, I have been seen jogging around the compound twice a day (I reckon doing just under 3km each time - why am I not losing weight?) acoompanied by 3 kids on bikes and 1 crazy Dalmation.

This morning shortly after we set off, we upped the pace for a bit of a sprint (I jog too slowly for Steph's satisfaction) and Pearl got all excited and started leaping to catch hold of the end of the lead which was grasped in my sweaty hand.

You can see it coming, can't you?

I tripped over Pearl, stood on her quite hard and hit the road with my right shoulder. Am very very sore. But managed not to cry, kids very proud of me. David started chasing Pearl who was totally freaked, first by being stood on and then by being chased. Eventually managed to get her to come back to me and then we limped on our way.

My shoulder and arm have been getting sorer all day - I couldn't even carry my handbag on it this afternoon, and it was difficult keeping my hand on the steering wheel of the car. Now, it's not broken or dislocated or anything like that, it wasn't a huge fall - but it has made me realise my age - a few years ago a fall like that would have had very little impact on me.

No wonder I tend to avoid falling from horses these days!
