Now I just need to fill in the gaps. Not sure where to start.... Grand Prix? Royal Horse Guards? Foster puppies? Dreamland again? Kids stuff? Broken washing machines? Nah, think I'll leave that one out!
To paraphrase someone quite famous, I'll start at the very beginning cos it's a very good place to start...
On 3 October Darrell and I went to see The Household Cavalry Musical Ride. This has been referred to by Princess Anne as "..one of the brightest jewels in Britain's rich equine culture. "
And it was a real wow. True to form, Darrell ensured that we arrived at the venue just before the first horses came trotting in, so we didn't manage to get seats together, but we happened to be in quite a good area of the arena. The horses were fantastic, so beautiful and well trained. And impressive - when they finished, they galloped out of the arena at full speed and it sent shivers down my spine. (OK, yesterday was International Cliche Day, so I missed the boat there and shouldn't have used 'shivers down the spine' but it really does apply!)
And I can't leave this item without mentioning the programs - you know the pieces of photocopied paper that are folded and left on the seats for kids to use as paper airplanes during a show...? Well, these were no good for planes at all. They are hard covered books which contained full page photos on glossy paper - they could have charged us each quite a bit for them - they alone were certainly worth more than we paid for our tickets! Sometimes I love that this country is so OTT....
