Falling behind!

The trouble with not keeping up with the blogs is that when I want to blog I can't becuase I haven't blogged something older, so I don't blog the new thing which rapidly becomes old thing no. 2 not blogged, and then the next new thing becomes old thing no. 3 not blogged. Etc.
So, not withstanding the blogs of Stephanie's ballet concert, Alex's birthday, ugly new dog - all of which I REALLY am going to get back to - I must expound on language difficulties.
Our lovely Daisy (our Philipino maid, for those who haven't yet met her) is superb at cooking Philipino food, but not so good at the Western stuff. So I sent her on a cooking course, where she learnt to make basics like a cheese sauce, apple crumble and, of course, bolognaise. She finished the course a champion cook and brought home her own recipe book with all of the above and now when I need a fill in, she can quickly whip up any of the above. Lately the bolognaise has been tasting a tad strange, not unpleasant, just different, and I thought I must have been buying the kofka mince instead of plain. Yesterday she asked how the bolognaise was and I went through the recipe with her. When it came to garlic she assured me that she put in two whole cloves - and pulled the Cloves jar out of the spice cupboard to prove it!
More interesting stuff to follow....
