In mourning....

A terrible thing has happened in our house.  Almost worse than losing a pet.  For Alex.

Our piano has died.

Tragically.

The  night before last the aircon above the piano started leaking and by the time we discovered it, the piano was filled with water.

We dismantled the piano, took the keys out, dried everything and stood the fan over it for 24 hours.

Tonight was the test.  We carefully replaced all the keys, striking each one as we fitted it in.  And they are not only out of tune, they are warped and sticking.  Now I'm trying to find a piano repair place, but it would appear it would be cheaper to bin our lovely piano and buy Alex an electronic one...

Alex wanders around the house looking lost, he had formed the habit of stopping to play everytime he walks past the piano (which can be frustrating for me when I'm trying to get the kids out of the house) and he drearily strums on the couple of keys which still play.....
