We attended the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship a short while ago. Surprisingly, it was a fun day. 
To start with, it wasn't crowded - which I hear is normal for events here. There was loads to do apart from watch golf - we had henna painting done, handled hawks, tried out racing cars, went up in a hot air balloon, got a free neck and shoulder massage, climbed a wall and abseiled down, played putt-putt, and had a terrific lunch complete with a glass of wine! Oh, we also watched some golf as we walked around the superb course...spot the eagle in the picture of the course on the right...
