I thought that I was coping pretty well with the heat. After all, the kids and I walk the dogs (3 at the moment so it can be pretty chaotic) every morning at about 7.30 or 8 am for at least 30 mins. And yes, it's hot. We are always very pleased to get back into our air conditioned car and have a long drink of chilled water. We laugh about the fact that even the dogs have had enough by the time we end our little walk.
We walk in the evening too. And during the day I take the kids to the pool for hours on end.
So, yes, I'm good with this heat.
And then, this evening I had to pack away the kids' water slide. It is a job which takes about 15 or 20 minutes, to fold the huge inflatable slide and put it into its box, hopefully fitting the attachments and motor in too. Sensibly, I waited till the "cool" of the evening, after we'd done the dog's walk.
And I sweated. And I felt weak. And nauseous. And this for a task that is not normally very draining and that does not take very long to do. This was about an hour ago and I'm still recovering.
I admit it, I'm a wuss. And I really don't know how the labourers I pass on the side of the road during the heat of the day keep going. I'm no longer surprised at how slowly they work - I'm just surprised they manage to keep putting one foot in front on another.
