During Ramadan, the Muslims fast - they are not allowed to eat or drink between about 4.30am and 6.30 at night (exact timings announced every day). Because this is a Muslim country, it is law that no-one (no matter their religious affiliation) may eat or drink in public during the fasting hours (kids, pregnant women and the sick are exempt).
Yesterday, two visitors to the UAE, non-Muslims, were fined 1000dhs each for drinking fruit juice at a petrol station.
The message here is clear and simple - don't visit the UAE during Ramadan!
