Smart Lights

We were driving through Sharjah on our way to Dreamland, stopped at traffic lights, and this is what we saw. All the lights have got counters on them, so you know exactly how long it will be until they change colour. So you know if you've got a long wait at a red light, or if you're likely to make it through on this green one. Saves a lot of frustration - I wonder why this system isn't used anywhere else?
