With apologies to my brother, whose muddy photo's made it to his blog before my Xmas blatherings did to mine....
Xmas was low key here in AD for us - our family as a whole declined to visit us, electing instead to spend the day boating and skiing on the Vaal Damn. No accounting for tastes, really!
And the reason for the delay in posting is that I am in the process of doing a camera changeover - I received a new (tiny and pink) camera from Darrell - that he is never allowed to touch, let alone use - and the old big camera is still waiting for him to sort it out out so I can download. So Xmas photo's may be a while coming....
Just before Xmas Darrell took the boys to an International Car Show with, apparently, some exceptional cars on display. I gave him strict instructions - I don't want 54 photo's for me to sort through - just bring 3 or 4 for me to post. In all fairness, he didn't come back with 54 photo's. He only had 51. Do you think he was taking the P***?
OK, this was supposed to be about Xmas. Santa found our house on Xmas eve, luckily David had done a big SANTA STOP HERE sign for him, and we left our loft window open for easy access (since we lack a chimney). Our kids still believe in Santa - I think mainly because they feel that just before Xmas would not be a clever time to stop believing, and they forget about him afterwards. Santa brought most of what their little hearts desired, and the Xmas tree provided the rest. Many thanks to everyone who sent gifts for them - they were very appreciated and have been enjoyed.
Xmas morning was very restful from the adults point of view - our kids have been so well trained as to their morning behaviour (do not wake Mom and Dad upon pain of death), that even though they were awake early, and feeling up their Santa Sacks, they didn't come and wake us - when we woke at 6.20 they still allowed us to make tea before the grand opening began. Afterwards, we trotted off to attend an Anglican church service (so at least I knew all the responses, courtesy of St Mary's School), so we felt rather virtuous.
Then the tree presents, then eating, then playing with the presents, then more eating, then playing, then more eating...I think you know the story!
Oh, and I must just mention that I provided homemade (from scratch, by me) Xmas cake, soup, bread, glazed ham - all the things I normally buy 'cos it's easier. Am very proud of myself, and may do it again next year!
