Happy New Year!

Happy to New to everyone out there who kindly takes a peek at my blog. Wishing you all of the best for the coming year - I hope the first 3 days have been up to scratch...

We had a small gathering on New Years Eve - arranged at the last moment after a chat with a friend about the difficulty of finding babysitters on NYE and the difficulties of keeping small kids awake if one goes out with them in tow. We found a couple more like minded families and got together for an early braai and celebration - and when the kids started getting sleepy, we got them home. Lovely.

It was best that we were feeling strong on New Years Day anyway, as it was day One of the Capitala World Tennis Championship. We had obtained tickets (obligatory really, when you live 5 minutes from the stadium) and all 5 of us trotted along to watch Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, James Blake, Andy Roddick and Nikolay Davydenko doing what they do best on court. In Andy Roddicks case, that meant playing the fool - he was not on form and was knocked out in only 2 sets. However, I'll not give you a blow by blow account - suffice to say that this afternoon the boys of my family are attending the final being played out by Nadal and Murray. Steph and I decided to stay home for the sake of others trying to watch the match. Oh, the joys.
