I went shopping this morning, for 3 very specific items.
1. A phone (mine has decided to retire from public life and only works intermittently)
2. A laptop
3. Sunglasses with flowers on them (so that Darrell won't pinch them)
I started with the phone. Did you know that there are approximately 1000 different phones out there? They all do different wonderful amazing things and have potentials and connections and accessories.... I just wanted one to ring and send texts.... couldn't find it.
Went onto Laptops. Not quite so many of those, only about 500. Fantastic things, some of them even make the bed in the morning (apparently). However, if I ever spoke computer-ese, it is now quite gone from my mind and I had no success in interpreting which of all the things they had to offer, I actually need. When the shop assistant came to give me a hand, he made things no clearer. I retreated in defeat.
Sunglasses. Walked into a shop, thousands of glasses. Thought to myself, oh no, here we go again. Asked the shop assistant for one with flowers. We only have one pair of those, she said. So I bought them.
Is there a term for fear of fancy phones? Or fear of fancy laptops? Or fear of too much choice when shopping?
