At what stage does one classify as a professional golfer, I wonder? Do you have to be making more than a certain amount per year, or does your prize money just have to exceed your costs? If the latter, then we have a professional golfer in the family!
Yesterday was the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, and we went along for a fun day out. Yes, seems strange, I know. Last year there was lots for the kids to do (climbing walls, putt putt, hot air balloon rides....) but this year, there was very little for them to do - bar watching golf!

However, there was a "Long Putt" competition, and anyone who sunk 2 balls won a golf bag. Alex covered himself with glory, and Mommy with pride, when he sunk 2 balls (the only other person to do so over the 2 days of play was Ross Fisher, a professional golfer). Alex was awarded with his golf bag, one with all the bells and whistles - just unfortunately, it was also a full sized adult bag. Not deterred, he carried it around all afternoon and his fame spread through the golfing village, many people stopping to congratulate him.
He definitely earned back more than the entrance price (free for kids!), so I consider this the first step on his career as a professional golfer....
