Tale of 2 visitors Day 1

Ouma (Darrell's mom, Jeannette) and Jordynne (my niece) came through arrivals and passport control with no problems, which was a great relief, considering the difficulty we had experienced obtaining visas for them. They did take a long time, and D and I were getting worried that they were stuck in there on some technicality. But all was well. We all headed back home and fed the travellers banana bread and tea, then Darrell took off for work and Jordynne and I took the kids to school (we had to fill in a Very Late Form!). Back at the house, Jeannette had unpacked and needed to rest on her bed - so I took Jordy to the swimming pool to refresh herself. Then some homemade soup for lunch, and we went and collected Steph from school, waited in the playground for Alex then went home for a short play. Then Steph to ballet, collected David from football, and back home for roast chicken - Darrell finished early and was in time to join us, so we were all together for that first night.
I told Jordynne that she didn't have to go to bed the same time as the kids (she's 11, which is really old), she was thrilled by this carte blanche and decided to sit up until D and I went to bed. We took pity on her at 9.30 and declared we were exhausted... Funnily enough, on Tuesday she was really tired, and she made the decision to go to bed at the same time as the boys from then on....which she has kept to!
