After school run (for which we woke Jeannette), we headed down to the Corniche - a 3 km strip of beach, where Jordynne had her first dip in the Persian Gulf. She also collected shells which will go home with her (if she ever gets around to cleaning them!).
The parking lot was on the opposite side of a main road from the beach, so we had to use an underground walkway to make the crossing. In most other countries, this walkway would be decidedly insalubrious, but here it is wonderful - mosaic pictures on the walls and fountains at all the exits. And well lit! We had lunch at a cafe on the beach, and then....headed back to school! David had his Yr 2 Olympics, which was nice. Jeannette was very surprised how uncompetitive they were - they are following the American idea of not putting any child through the stress of losing...I totally disagree, I think kids need learn how to handle both winning and losing, but let me not get started. After the Olympics was over, Alex was playing in a school football match (his first) and his team won 2:1. As for how well they played… picture 16 small boys chasing one ball around a field....
