Visitors....

Finally! Some more visitors to enjoy our strange desert island with us! This time round it is my folks and they are staying with us for approximately 7 weeks - wonderful! Especially for me. Darrell says he's happy too, but that could be be PC-speak!
They arrived at midnight a week last Thursday - incredibly bad timing really, as shortly after they booked their flights, ALEC announced their year end Xmas do - the same night, in Dubai. Normally we would have made a night of it and booked ourselves all into the hotel, but this time round we arrived, we ate, we left!
It took us over 2 hours to get to the function (horrible traffic), we stayed for 2 hours and then departed for the drive back to AD airport, where I felt a tad over-dressed standing at the arrivals gate. Just as Darrell was about to fall asleep on his feet, we got an SMS from immigrations saying that they had admitted the folks (D's last hope gone?) and then they came barrelling through - looking remarkably chirpy for their long flight.
When we got home we were greeted by Pearl and Bella in their own different ways. Pearl barked the house down at the intruders (no-one entering at 1am can be up to any good) and Bella piddled....
The kids were delighted to go and jump on Granny and Granpa in the morning, and I took them tea in bed - actually their last such spoil until this morning!

The folks spent the morning unpacking, then we headed off into the desert with some friends for a picnic and a bit of dune bashing. Lovely introduction to life here, I think Mom went a bit crazy with her camera. We will definitely try and squeeze in another trip before they leave.

Then on Saturday morning, as I was heading down the stairs (they're not steep, mind you!) to put the dogs out and make tea for all again, I took a misstep. Thought I taking the last step, but there was still another one to go, took a glorious tumble down TWO WHOLE STEPS and I was unable to put my foot to the ground for 3 days! Went to the doctor for X-rays as the whole foot was swollen and I couldn't move it at all, but fortunately it wasn't a break, just a bad sprain.
I had never known how bad a sprain can be. Today, 10 days later, my foot is still swollen, my toes are just fading from brilliant purple to black and I'm still limping.
Talk about annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
