Getting "a man" in to do odd-jobs...

I married a builder. This meant that for the first five years of marriage in our first new house, we lived with a hole in the kitchen wall – Darrell was in the process of being about to remove cabinets and re-do the kitchen. When we sold up, the hole was patched over but the kitchen had not been redone. And the trend continued throughout the following 10 years. And now, despite his degree and 20 years working experience, I am banning my own builder from my house. All I wanted was my curtains put up in the study in the new house. I was told, amidst much builders-language, that the walls are skew, the plaster poor and the curtains are appalling.
From now on, I getting “a man in” to do these jobs and Darrell can very happily go back to doing what he does best – telling other people what to do and how to do it. And I hope he doesn’t read this for about 10 years... he may have cooled down by then!
