Yesterday I took delivery of my brand new car. It is a really gorgeous colour – steel blue – and has all the bells and whistles that one’s heart could desire. It also has some really good pulling off abilities and, hopefully this is unrelated, is fitted with all the best safety features like airbags and ABS and ESP and other initials.
And as I mentioned, bells and whistles, in the form of blue tooth, DVD player, satellite navigation etc. I spent the morning gazing blankly at the set up instructions for the last few things before giving up and heading off to school to collect my darlings.
Once home, I left the kids in the car for 20 minutes to pull of the plastic covers – despite the car salesman’s advice to me to leave it on until it falls off on its own, so that “everyone will know it’s new, mam!”
When I returned, the phone was connected, the SAT nav running with Home and School pinpointed and the DVD player was playing "Tom and Jerry The 3 musketeers" .... Oh, and lots of the plastic was off...
Who needs instruction manuals when you’ve got 10 and 8 year old boys?
