Driving UAE

I've been living here too long, I think!
I was driving into town this week, and stopped at a red traffic light. I was in the right hand land and there were 3 lanes left of me, the far left one for left turn only. I was at the front of my lane and I realised that I had actually wanted to turn left at this particular traffic light.
Now, this is the bit where you can tell I'm morphing into a UAE driver - it actually occurred to me that when the lights changed I could put my foot down and turn left in front of the other 3 lanes of traffic before they pulled off.
Yes, it really leapt to my mind as an alternative to missing my turning.
Fortunately, sense came to the fore and I went straight when the light changed - but the car to the left of me obviously had the same problem - and he solved it by cutting left across all the traffic..... UAE Drivers!!!
