Bad Mom Award..

Yup, that goes to me!
Yesterday Alex had a football match (part of which I managed to watch between other football and ballet runs), and sustained a slight injury to his right hand. Yes, I can hear you screaming, handball! He's only 8, OK? He played very well, stayed in position, kept his focus on the ball and game and managed some useful kicks...but anyway...
His right hand. Yup, slight swelling last night. Being a very good mom, I told him that he was over reacting and it would be better in the morning.
This morning I admitted that yes, it was slightly swollen, so I bandaged it up and sent him off to sports day... where he did quite well, actually.
I later received a call from the school nurse telling me that she thinks his thumb may be fractured. Oh, says I, do I need to collect him now or can he wait until the end of the school day? The nurse and Alex confer and I was given until the end of the day.
OK, close of school and I collect all the kids and trek off to the local hospital, where Alex's hand is admired and X-Rayed and I'm told he has a fracture. Only a hairline though!!! One very impressive hand later and I trek them off to gymnastics, we arrived very late but are forgiven due to the circumstances.
You may ask how Alex was supposed to do gymnastics with his hand in a splint?
Well, he couldn't - but he COULD collect his trophy for the Best Gymnast! Pure gold, that trophy, really...
