Tale of 2 visitors Day 16
Time for GOLD! We headed for the gold souk in town to have a gawp at all that glitters. Jeannette was a bit disappointed, she had expected the old stalls she experienced in Old Dubai 8 years ago, and the air conditioned mall filled with shops with glass fronted displays just didn’t make the atmosphere she had anticipated. However, once she got over the disappointment, she joined Jordynne and myself in marvelling at HOW ON EARTH anyone could wear most of the stuff on display. We got Jordynne’s ears pierced, but not with any impressive gold and diamond studs - just the surgical ones that come pre-packaged.. But they’re still very pretty. However, we did buy some other jewellery. Jeannette had admired a necklace made from tri-colour gold, and which carried the attractive price label of 6,900dhs. She didn’t buy it though, contenting herself with a (much) cheaper one from a little accessories stall in the mall where I buy my bread. Jordynne bought some earrings at the same place, so although no gold was purchased, the feminine need to spend money on jewellery was satisfied.
