Bow ties

Last night Darrell and I attended a black tie function at the British Embassy. I wore my trusty black evening dress bought with my Scottish friends many years ago - note to self: go shopping! Darrell wore his trusty tux bought even more years ago. It still fits him too, as long as he doesn't breathe too much. Usually he wears his ready folded clip on tie, but last night he got a bee in his bonnet and decided that he wanted to wear a real bow tie for a change. He dug it out of retirement and got onto the internet to figure out how to tie it. A lot of swearing later, I was ready and came to help him. Eventually, between the two of us we worked it out and left the house with Darrell wearing a very presentable tie.
As we were sitting in the taxi, Darrell fingered his tie and declared how pleased he was with it.
As we walked into the embassy, Darrell mentioned how chuffed he was with his tie.
As we sat at the dinner table talking to other couples, Darrell leaned towards me and whispered his delight in his tie.
As we left, Darrell commented on how good his tie was still looking.
As we got ready for bed, Darrell said what a pity it would be to take such a perfect tie off.
And when I woke up to solve the world's problems at 3am, I reached over and removed the tie from around my otherwise naked husband's neck...
