Breaking news....

Yesterday in Bahrain: an estimated 100,000 protesters marched through the capital, calling for the downfall of Hamad (the king).  Roads were blocked and helicopters monitored the proceedings from the sky.
An awful day for the Bahraini.

Yesterday in Bahrain: the sun shone and hundreds of expat children from diverse GCC countries, together with their families, spent the day at the Rugby Club, enjoying a tournament, excellent food, the swimming pool and many glasses of frosty beverages.  My boys did well, Alex's team came 2nd in the u12's, David's team came 1st in u10s, and David was awarded the Best Player of the Tournament.
A lovely day for the expats.

It was bizarre.  We could see the helicopters from the rugby club, but our lives in our little ivory tower continued unaffected.
